Do you keep seeing those Facebook posts from new "web developers" or "designers" with often attractive profile pics or young people starting out - offering to build your website for FREE in order to build their portfolio? 🚩🚩🚩

HERE’S THE DEAL….

*   Quality Concerns: Free work often equals rushed work. Is a subpar website really what you want representing your brand?

*   Hidden Agenda: They might be fishing for content to sell elsewhere or using your info for shady purposes.

*   Lack of Experience: Building a solid website takes time and expertise. Are you willing to gamble on someone who might not deliver?

*   Copyright Issues: Who owns the content created? Make sure you have a written agreement clarifying usage rights.

*   Domain Control: You might not get full control over your domain or website and may never own it.

*   Time Suck: Managing a newbie can take up a TONNE of your time with revisions and explanations. Is "free" worth that hassle?

This happened to a client of mine a while ago. She saw ‘Jenny’ on a local Facebook group, a young mum who had just started out and wanted to build her business, turned out to be a nameless call centre person from a business in India 🥴. My client never did get their domain back when they realised what had happened and

had to start again with me.
